Kolding Stadion
We draw Kolding IF’s future stadium
For generations, the area has housed Kolding Stadium and Kolding IF. The iconic wooden grandstand was built in 1931, while the current main grandstand dates from the early 1970s. Throughout the ages, Kolding residents have visited the stadium for unique football experiences.

The stadium has had to ensure the club’s sporting success and bring pride to the city. This is still the case for Kolding IF, which has just unveiled the first visualisations of the city’s future stadium – designed by Sweco Architects. Kolding’s new stadium is in line with the latest standards. As many as 10,000 spectators will be able to gather around the city’s football team divided into standing and seating areas as well as large lounge areas, where there will be room to feed 800-900 guests.
Welcoming architectural gem
In addition to a harmonious and elegant facade, Kolding’s new stadium must invite inside with its transparent expression. Functionality is paramount, where all spectators are guaranteed a perfect view of the entire turf, regardless of location.
The stadium’s elevated location and enclosed grandstands should create an arena-like atmosphere where spectators can follow the course of the battle on the pitch at the closest team.
Multifunctional cultural hotspot
Football is community, but community holds more than just football. Therefore, with the perforated elements of the stadium facade, an ideal soundscape has been created for concerts and other cultural events that require the perfect surroundings and location. The newly laid hybrid grass, which has been part of the stadium phase’s first phase, can be lifted off, after which a new surface can be installed for events other than football.
The start and end dates of the stadium construction have not yet been set. The local plan work will take place over the next 8-9 months, while work is being done to get the final financing solution for the stage-divided stadium buildings in place.
