Environmental consultant for Sweco’s international division

For our international consulting team, we are now looking for an environmental consultant with a keen interest in the fields of environmental management, health and safety and sustainable development.
Your role with us will offer you opportunities to work with international development projects in South / South East Asia, Central Asia, Africa, and Eastern Europe, where we assist our clients by developing fit-for-purpose feasibility studies and due diligence of infrastructure and energy projects to inform their decision making processes, and then monitor project implementation.
In liaison with our Senior Consultants and Project Managers you will take responsibility for assessing the environmental aspects of projects during construction and operations based on the documentation made available. We often conduct site visits of 1-2 weeks duration to support the assessment process. The wide range of tasks would e.g. include working with multi-disciplinary teams on:
– Reviews of infrastructure projects – water, wastewater, transmission lines, ports and roads
– Reviews of renewable energy projects – wind, solar and other RE
– Environmental and social impact assessments
– Risk assessments regarding climate change and biodiversity
– Pollution prevention and control, resource efficiency and waste management
– Sound advisory on environmental policies, resource efficiency (energy, water, raw materials)
You might already have solid knowledge of international standards for environmental management like the ISO 14000 family and the IFC Performance Standards, as well as international environmental legislation frameworks. Regardless we look specifically for candidates with a bright and structured mindset, a keen curiosity in learning and great interpersonal and language skills. A Masters in a relevant field and fluency in English are a must.
