A green centre

The building is ment to be part of Odense’s ambition to become the greenest city inDenmark, and the building should be experienced as an integrated part of the surrounding park. The green environment therefore continues indoors with planting in the large central arrivals area. The building will appear bright and friendly with a facade covering consisting of heat-treated wooden slats, which give a natural surface that patinas beautifully. The floors in the foyer are concrete and other floors are linoleum in light tones.

DGNB Gold and Heart

The educational building at the Port of Odense will be certified with DGNB Gold with the possibility of obtaining DGNB Heart. Sweco is the DGNB auditor on the project and ensures the implementation of environmental, social and economic sustainability aspects in the construction phase. Materials are used without the use of problematic substances and chemicals harmful to the environment and health.

The ambition is to purchase eco-labelled materials with a high degree of traceability and certification – including FSC/PFEC certified wood, Svanemærket, Emicode etc. In addition, work is done to ensure a good and healthy thermal, atmospheric, acoustic and visual indoor climate, which ensures a healthy and pleasant teaching environment.
