Indoor climate and sustainability
The project gave high priority to ensuring an ideal indoor climate. Sweco prepared indoor-climate calculations which formed the basis for adapting and refining the facades.
The heating for the homes is automatically regulated based on indoor and outdoor temperatures. Mechanical ventilation has been installed, and Sweco recommended the use of noise-reducing windows to create a healthy indoor climate – both in terms of acoustics and atmosphere.
The homes have to comply with the Danish building regulations (BR 2010) and the 2015 Low Energy Framework. Sweco ensured that requirements and project assumptions were incorporated into the project and descriptions. This includes requirements covering windows, skylights, doors, foundations, solar shielding, natural and mechanical ventilation, HVAC and electricity.
Sweco’s services
The Kanalvej building project was built under a turnkey contract. Sweco served as the engineering consultant for all engineering disciplines for the turnkey contractor, KPC. Sweco was responsible for completing the regulatory project and implementation of the main project, including preparation of descriptions for all engineering disciplines, to allow the work to be done by KPC’s subcontractors. The CSM process (safety in relation to the local railway), ICT management and supervision were also Sweco’s responsibility.
