Geoengineering

Accurate, detailed geotechnical knowledge of geological conditions is a key requirement of reliable design for construction, roads, ports or railways – onshore and offshore.
Sweco is a leader in the field, and with around 100 technical experts in offices throughout Denmark, our competences cover all geoengineering disciplines. We have many years of experience, and geotechnical professionalism is engraved in Sweco’s DNA.

With its own fleet of drilling rigs and its own laboratory, our geotechnical engineering experts have all the qualifications for carrying out in-depth geotechnical investigations, including soil analyses, excavation controls and related geotechnical engineering consultancy.

We are one of only a few consulting architectural and engineering companies in Denmark that both advise on and perform geotechnical engineering. Through more than 60 years of experience, we have gained detailed knowledge of the Danish subsoil, making us well-equipped to optimise our customers’ projects in relation to foundations for construction works and structures. This also means that we can offer complete geotechnical advice as well as individual services.

Geotechnical consultancy

Geotechnical advice and thorough initial assessment and analysis work are the cornerstone of our work with geoengineering, whether we are dealing with a detached house for a private owner or a large government infrastructure project.

Regardless of the scale of the task, we put the customer’s needs first, tailor our approach to the specific project, and work according to a sustainability and optimisation mindset. This ensures that costs and material use are minimised, and that processes and time usage are optimised. So that our customers get more value for money.

Soil surveys and geotechnical drilling

High quality and thorough preparation are the cornerstones of our work with soil surveys and geotechnical drilling. After using us, you will never need a supplementary investigation! We can perform all common types of studies and drilling, from A-Z, onshore and offshore, and have our own drilling rigs and equipment.

Geological assessment and classification tests

Geological assessment and classification is one of our key competencies. We have our own laboratory in Kolding with a strong team of trained geologists who can participate in projects around the country.

Excavation control (geotechnical supervision)

We perform excavation control, and always ensure that the person who does the inspection also writes the report, so that nothing is lost between the two.

Geophysical studies

We can perform geophysical surveys and screenings of soil conditions over very large areas, and advise on geophysical conditions in the early stages, prior to drilling and deciding on development plans.

Raw materials studies

We conduct all types of raw material studies for private and public sector customers, and can also help manage regulatory permits and environmental impact assessments, together with our environment and groundwater experts.

Foundations

We can perform calculations for everything from simple foundations to very large complex structures and foundations for offshore wind farms, etc.

Retaining walls and construction pits

Construction of retaining walls and construction pits, customised as needed. For this type of project we work closely with our experts in harbour structures, steel and concrete.

Stability and deformation calculations

We have our own drilling vehicles and rigs, and can therefore offer complete and integrated consultancy, from initial studies and sampling to final calculations. We use standard programs like Plaxsis and Slope/W to perform our calculations.

Photo recording, vibration analysis and risk assessment for damaged buildings

We have a specialised team of advisors who can guide and conduct photo recording, vibration analysis and risk assessments for damaged buildings. We perform vibration measurements in cooperation with our inhouse acoustics experts.
