The multi-storey car park is very transparent. It is in close visual contact with its surroundings and has a large influx of daylight. The dynamic flow of the design affords a variety of architectural experiences from one storey to another.
Project: Multi-storey car park, Nørreportcentret, Holstebro
Size: DKK 72 million, 14,000 m²
Client: Dades A/S
Lead architect: Jørgen Beider
Enlargement of the existing shopping centre. The new addition covers 3,000 m², a new retail area covers 10,400 m², a new three-storey multi-storey car park, as well as a penthouse floor with 660 m² of commercial rental property.
The client wished to create a multi-storey car park with great transparency in order to make users feel safe. High priority was given to visual contact with the surroundings and a large influx of daylight. The dynamic flow of the multi-storey car park’s design affords a variety of architectural experiences from one storey to another. The building facade reflects the circadian rhythm. The shadows and play of the rising sun. The afterglow of the neighbouring building’s silhouette.
The load-bearing construction is a concrete structure with standard parking decks. The facades are in glass with supports in galvanised and stainless steel. The plate glass is hardened double-glazing with an intermediate film where the neutral matt film is used throughout and is combined with up to four layers of coloured film to achieve the preferred hues.
