Project: Multi-storey car park, Holstebro
Role: Architect and landscape architect
Size: DKK 34 million 10,400 m²
Client: Holstebro Municipality
Lead architect: Morten Toft
Construction of a new multi-storey car park in the centre of Holstebro. The new 10,400 m² multi-storey car park houses 400 parking spaces distributed on 10 split levels (5 whole storeys), a terrace with views, and a re-interpretation of the surrounding/underlying landscape.
Holstebro’s new multi-storey car park and the adjoining urban space comprise a visionary project, which supports Holstebro’s hallmark as a lively city of cultural activity in close contact with the surrounding scenic countryside, which at the same time must harmoniously fit in with the local urban space.
The client wished to create a multi-storey car park, the design of which helps underpin a safe and inspiring environment, indoors and outdoors alike, as well as a multi-storey car park whose central location can support more than one function. The multi-storey car park has a dynamic flow affording a variety of architectural styles.
The building facade varies in its degree of openness and, in the evening, it will stand out as a bright installation together with the exterior lighting design of tunnels and the landscape.
