Sweco Architects was in charge of resolving landscape problems for the expansion of the high-voltage cable between Aabenraa and Viborg. The expansion is particularly necessary to ensure the integration of wind energy into the power system.
Project: 400 kV line, Kassø–Tjele, Jutland
Role: Landscape architect
Size: DKK 2.7 billion, 550 transmission towers
Lead architect: Frode Birk Nielsen
Sweco Architects served as consultants for Energinet.dk to resolve landscape problems for the laying of high-voltage cables and stations.
In conjunction with EIA studies for the high-voltage cable laid through Jutland from Tjele (near Viborg) to Kassø (near Aabenraa), Sweco Architects provided studies of new types of transmission towers, landscape analyses and visualisations.
Denmark’s power grid must be maintained and developed on an ongoing basis to accommodate national needs for a secure and reliable supply of energy. The new Kassø–Tjele cable is an important part of this strategy.
