Roskilde Katedralskole

A number of implemented projects ensure a more coherent educational environment and address some of the challenges the school was facing due to striking growth. Most recently, the school’s multi-purpose hall has been enlarged so it can now accommodate the entire student body.

Sweco Architects was lead consultant for five independent projects that ensure a more coherent educational environment and address some of the challenges faced by the school after experiencing striking growth over the past five years. The projects include the following:

  • Refurbishment of the administrative section, which has been enlarged and designed to be more open and up to date
  • Replacement of out-of-date facade sections with an optimised structure
  • Enlargement of the canteen and production kitchen so both have the capacity to serve the school’s 1,150 students
  • New classroom sections that are flexibly laid out for project-oriented teaching for four classes at the same time
  • Enlargement of teachers’ facilities with a new first floor where it is possible to sit and prepare lessons
  • Refurbishment of science facilities focusing on flexible utilisation of laboratory facilities and classrooms in a more open-plan solution
  • Multi-purpose hall and the enlargement of changing rooms, etc.

Sweco Architects provided process management and user dialogue, design-engineering management, digital EU public procedure, stage/reshuffling plan, design engineering, construction management, coordination of OHS, operation and maintenance, handover and the first-year inspection.
