The project focused on establishing a good setting for the professional athletes’ everyday activities and workplace. The facility is easy to get to with good access to the stands and ideal views of the pitch area.
Project: Slagelse Stadium
Role: Architect and landscape architect
Size: DKK 26 million
Client: FC Vestsjælland
Lead architect: Morten Toft
Sweco Architects implemented the project of a covered spectator area seating 1,200 and a new building covering 1,500 m² with VIP facilities, changing rooms, administration offices, meeting rooms, club facilities, a television studio and a press room. The aim of the project was to prepare Slagelse Stadium for FC Vestsjælland’s participation in Denmark’s premier football league.
The task was won in a design-build contract, along with the contractor Jönsson Entreprise A/S and consulting engineers Midtconsult.
The new building rests on a concrete base with two precise and simple edifices: one light and elegant, facing the stands and pitch, with large glass facades in balanced contrast to a heavier and lower edifice clad in light wooden moulding.
The roof of the stands “floats” over the building on a simple, elegant steel structure supported by a row of recurring steel columns.
